Selected Problem To Go After>>

The Pen-Cell concept is selected to pursue. The other concepts are put to the side for several reasons. Two ideas dealt mainly with software and no hardware, therefore creating little left for an industrial designer, like me to design. The other concept, the see through monitor, seemed great but the Pen-Cell was selected because it had a strong concept, and ergonomic issue to deal with, more to learn from, and more of a challenge into the design.

INSPIRATION:

Several images and actual models are collected to study and learn from. Items included cell phones, pens, toothbrushes, razors, scanners, and other such items. These products are selected because of their ergonomic interaction with a human?s hand. The final outcome of this idea is an object that one writes with then transitions the object to a holding position.

Phase I Sketching

Now that the research, concept, and inspirational images are conceived, it?s time to imagine the form, the actual product that a consumer would hold, use, and carry around.

Concept Phase II

These boards are created for the second group discussion. Boards described more function factor concepts rather than form. The boards are made to provoke discussion to receive a great deal of feedback.

These boards represent variations in methods to turn on/off the phone and turn on/off the ink-dispensing unit. Another board represents different forms to contribute to the EZ-grip function of the entire product.
